, the global investment house with $515 billion of AuM as at end-June, has appointed Joel Kim as chief executive of the firm’s Asia (excluding Japan) business. He takes up the role in August this year.

Prior to this, Steve Clark, president of Dimensional International, has been overseeing the firm’s Asia ex Japan business, the firm said in a statement late last week. 

Kim will be the chief executive and a director of Dimensional Fund Advisors Pte, Dimensional’s Singapore subsidiary, and a director of Dimensional Hong Kong Limited. He will report to Steve Clark and relocate from the firm’s London office to Singapore.

Kim joined Dimensional in 2016 in Singapore as a senior portfolio manager. Most recently, he served as head of fixed income, international, in the firm’s London office. Prior to joining Dimensional, he was head of Asia-Pacific fixed income for BlackRock, Singapore, where he was responsible for portfolio management of all active and index fixed income strategies in the region, including Australia and Japan.

He also spent nearly 14 years with ING Investment Management, where he held various fixed income portfolio management positions in Europe and Asia, including serving as head of Asian debt.
